Yoga for Thyroid

Yoga for Thyroid at The Yoga Roots, Whitefield

Thyroid conditions such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can affect your energy, weight, mood and metabolism. At The Yoga Roots in Nagondanahalli, Whitefield, our therapeutic yoga personal sessions help people with thyroid conditions build a steady, safe practice that supports their overall health, always alongside the treatment their doctor recommends.

How yoga can support you

A regular, well-planned yoga practice can help with many of the everyday challenges that come with a thyroid condition:

  • Energy: gentle, regular movement and breathing practice can help you feel less sluggish and more active through the day.
  • Stress: looking after stress is part of looking after your hormones. Pranayama, relaxation and Yoga Nidra help calm the nervous system.
  • Weight and fitness: a consistent practice keeps you moving and supports healthy weight management.
  • Neck and throat area: traditional yoga includes postures that gently stretch the neck and throat, where the thyroid gland sits. We introduce these carefully, only where they suit you.

What your sessions include

  • Asanas chosen for you: postures matched to your condition, fitness and any other health concerns. Postures that are not suitable for you, such as some inversions, are adapted or left out.
  • Pranayama: breathing practices that help you relax and breathe more fully.
  • Relaxation and Yoga Nidra: guided deep relaxation to reduce stress and improve rest.
  • A short home practice: simple routines you can do between sessions, so your progress continues at home.

How we plan your sessions

  1. Consultation: we talk through your diagnosis, medication, other health issues and your goals.
  2. Personal plan: your yoga therapist designs a sequence around your needs.
  3. Guided one-to-one practice: every posture is taught and corrected so it is done safely.
  4. Review and progress: we adjust your plan as your strength, flexibility and confidence grow.

Who it is for

Adults with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, including people who have only recently been diagnosed and want a safe, guided way to stay active. If you also have conditions such as PCOD, diabetes or high blood pressure, your plan takes these into account too.

Please continue your prescribed medication and regular check-ups, and let your doctor know you are starting yoga.
